Android 2.2 Adoption Grows
Now almost 29% of Android handsets have a taste of Froyo.
Google's latest build of Android, version 2.2, codename: Froyo, has been trickling out to smartphones since its May announcement at Google's I/O Conference. Based on recent data collection by Google, Android 2.2 now accounts for 28.7 percent of the operating system's overall market share.

What's more, devices running Android 2.0 or higher is now at roughly 70.4 percent of total Android-devices. Google arrived at these figures by counting the number of Android devices that accessed the Android Marketplace and then dividing the results according to specific build.
The last survey conducted by Google showed the operating system at only 4.5 percent. The increase can likely be attributed to continuing rollouts, including popular phones like Motorola's Droid X and HTC's EVO 4G and Incredible. Even with the increase in market share, the relatively slow carrier adoption is indicative of Android's biggest critics and developers' biggest complaints –– slow, uneven updates.
