Cobbler Accepted Into Ubuntu Archive

Jan 19, 2011

"Cobbler now in the ubuntu archive...and it actually works!," said Robbie Williamson, Ubuntu Server Team Manager at Canonical.

Cobbler, a linux installation server originally developer by Red Hat's Emerging Technologies group to accelerate setup of network installation environments, has been accepted into the Ubuntu Archive according to Chuck Short on his blog earlier today.

For those who want to use Cobbler on Ubuntu, Short gives you all the instructions to install Cobbler, get an Ubuntu server Iso, configure Cobbler, and import the ISO. "And essentially you are ready to deploy Ubuntu Server via netboot," says Short. The Ubuntu Server Team wants to know about your experience with using Cobbler on Ubuntu and Short encourages users to file a bug if they have any issues while using it.
