Everyman's Game: "Yo Frankie"
The "Yo Frankie" game is now available for free download in two versions, for Blender and Crystal Space.
You can now guide Frankie, the mischievous marsupial, through his sheep-throwing world for hours on end, and it's free. Frankie now has his own website from which you can download one of two versions of the game.
The 206-Mbyte version is for the Blender Game Engine, while the zero-install version is for Crystal Space. The website will also soon have tutorials and videos. Unfortunately, high demand is currently affecting some of the downloads.
The project was financed partly through previous DVD sales to support the work done by the team in Amsterdam. The DVD purchasers could get a preview of the jump-and-run game, which is now open to a much wider audience.
Crystal Space developer Frank Richter has some details on how "Yo Frankie" runs on your system. You need minimum 1.5 GHz CPU, 512 MByte RAM, and an OpenGL 2.0 capable graphics card, at least for Crystal Space (it is optional for the Blender version).
