Kernel developer Greg Kroah-Hartman recently announce the latest stable kernel version. The Minor Update 2.6.26.1 contains bugfixes, updates, and new drivers.

Linus Torvalds has announced the first Release Candidate of the next kernel version 2.6.27 on the Linux Kernel Mailing List (LKML); this signals the end of the merge window.

After rumors in May of Suns ZFS filesystem being included in the kernel, kernel developer Alan Cox has now refuted the claims pointing to Sun's licensing policy.

The kernel developers plan to integrate the GSPCA driver with kernel 2.6.27 to add support for a large number of webcams.

The changelog for kernel 2.6.25.11 includes just a single entry, however, it seems to be so important that the Kernel Stable Team urgently advises users to upgrade the kernel on 64 bit multiple user systems.
