delia wakelin Jul 22, 2008 9:26am GMT

dvd loads, but then asks for a username

after trying it says user ubuntu will log on, but it doesn't.

Is this a problem with my machine or should something be entered?

WHERE IS UBUNTU STUDIO?

JOHN BRACEGIRDLE Jul 24, 2008 6:05pm GMT

SIXPACK?-NO,three only.I have been misled-the DVD does not contain UBUNTU STUDIO.Or does it? If not, this is a very poor form of advertising.

Where are the additional Ubuntu variants?

Hans-Jörg Ehren / Linux Magazine Jul 25, 2008 9:50pm GMT

The DVD also contains Ubuntu Studio and Edubuntu which aren't live distros. For that we weren't able to integrate them into the Virtualbox environment. You need to burn CDs from the isos which are stored on the DVD in the /virtualbox/ISO-Images/ directory and boot into them.

Only Ubuntu Distro

This DVD only contains Ubuntu Distro....

There are 6 distros on the DVD...

Hans-Jörg Ehren / Linux Magazine Jul 30, 2008 11:27pm GMT

If you click on the VirtualBox logo on the desktop you can start 3 other Ubuntu variants as live distros within that environment. If you want to install one of those or access the remaining two ones you need to transfer them onto a bootable medium, preferably a CD, first.

You need to burn CDs from the isos which are stored on the DVD in the /virtualbox/ISO-Images/ directory and boot into them. Then you can install these Ubuntu variants.

Is the DVD available for download

Peter Yellman Aug 06, 2008 4:41pm GMT

Hello,

I recently received my first issue (August 2008) of Linux Pro Magazine as my "upgrade" from my Linux Magazine subscription. I found that I really like Linux Pro Magazine, but my copy did not include the DVD with the multiple "flavors" of Ubuntu 8.10, which I would like to try out.

My question is, is the DVD image available for download.?

Thanks,
Peter Yellman
