Women of Drupal

Mar 12, 2008 3:12pm GMT

Laura Scott wrote a great report about DrupalCon Boston 2008. She includes a bunch of photos of some of the women who attended and discusses the issue of their "visibility" in the open source community. Participation by women in Drupal is higher than average in the open source universe, but hasn't grown in the past year, either. Laura makes an interesting point about our educati... more »

Linux Gaming

Mar 07, 2008 8:06pm GMT

Kristin Shoemaker posted "Flipping the Linux Switch: Linux gaming" over at Download Squad. Kristin looks at Frozen Bubble and Extreme Tux Racer and points to a page with plenty of other time wasters. It's Friday afternoon and you really deserve a break, after all. Got a Women in Open Source blog topic in mind? Email it to me at roseblog AT linuxpromagazine DOT com. more »

Girls, Science, and Math

Mar 07, 2008 7:38pm GMT

Yes, this is slightly off topic for this blog, but it caught my eye. A Miami University study indicates that girls like science and math better in the 4th grade than they do in the 8th grade. Now We're Cooking with Open Source

Feb 27, 2008 7:23pm GMT

My offspring is unhappy with the uninspired menu at our house, but she's also a finicky little vegetarian who doesn't want to cook for herself. In fact, we just discussed this problem over dinner last night (at a local restaurant). Luckily, I ran across Lisa Hoover's update about the Open Source Food site, Feed Your Face At Open Source Food. If we can replace even one frozen pizza at our hous... more »

Feeling Dapper

Feb 26, 2008 8:46pm GMT

If I wrote a Letter to My Body, it would be more of an official apology for spending so much time at the computer this past weekend. I'd close the letter with a promise to run right out to the gym and lift weights in an effort to relieve my regular neck pain. I'm confident, however, that my letter would be sent back to me unread and marked, "Return to Sender." It will be a while bef... more »
